  • 1 Scenario Book: This book has a total of 10 scenarios from which to pick. Each one features an own set-up and set of goals for each side, as well as some unique rules and regulations. Fastest Flick in the West

The term Flick ’em Up comes from the game’s fundamental “flicking” mechanism, which is used throughout the game. Additionally, each scenario will inform you of what time the clock is set at and which color of hats should be placed on the heads of the players first.

The clock begins to tick at 6:00 p.m. for the Gunfight at Waldon Lake. Hats shall be worn with the red side facing out. The objectives for this scenario are straightforward: Kill three of your opponent’s cowboys, and your opponent will try to do the same thing to you.

The Cowboys

If at all possible, divide your players into equal-sized teams. In a game when you have an odd number of players, it simply means that one of the teams will have an additional member. Don’t be concerned, this is not a problem! The outlaws are on one team, while the lawmen are on the other. Depending on which team you want to be on, take the box, cowboy figurines, and cowboy tiles for your squad. Also, grab 5 hats and put them on your cowboys’ heads (with the red side up for this scenario). The box for your team should be placed in a convenient location where you can see and reach it quickly, but where it will not obstruct the primary play area of the town.

  1. Each area has a number at the top of it that corresponds to the number of hats worn by one of your cowboys throughout the game.
  2. A slot is also provided for keeping track of each cowboy’s inventory and current hit points at the very top.
  3. You can see what each side should start with directly next to the scenario’s objectives, so you can plan ahead of time.
  4. Every cowboy starts with three hit points, so go ahead and place three hit point tokens on the locations designated for each of your cowboys’ starting points.

Starting the Game

It is important for each team to set their internal turn order before the game begins, especially if they are playing with more than two individuals. Each team member will take turns portraying a cowboy in the sequence that you specify. The team that has the initiative token will be the one to take the lead. As part of their initial turn, that team must play the cowboy with the token. You have three options for how you want to interact with your cowboy:

  1. Move, shoot, take, leave, or exchange your position. You must be inside a building to do this task, hence it will not be available in this scenario. Towards the end of the book, I’ll go over how buildings function, as well as certain scenario-specific rules.

When you play as a cowboy, you have the option of doing up to two activities with them. You have the option of repeating the action or taking no action at all if you so want. Following the conclusion of your turn, regardless of whether or not you performed any actions, switch the hat on that cowboy to the opposite color. This makes it easier to keep track of which cowboys are still available to be played that round. Every round, the color of the clock hand corresponds to the number that the hand is pointing to on the dial.

The opposite side then has the opportunity to counterattack by taking on the role of a cowboy of their own.

When a round is completed, move the clock hand forward by one hour.

As previously, you begin with the cowboy who now has the initiative token in his possession. This implies that if your team finished last in the previous round and you have the token, you will get to take two rounds in a row! There were no items found.

Moving Your Cowboys

This is the point at which the flicking comes into play! The wooden movement disc may be used to relocate one of your cowboys by simply replacing their figurine on the table. Once you’ve done that, flip the disc in the direction you want it to go (again, using your index finger, not your thumb). If the disc comes into contact with any objects, buildings, or other figures along the path, the travel is terminated. The cowboy is returned to the point where the action began, and the action is lost.

  1. If the disc manages to escape out of the play area by being thrown off the table, the progress is likewise halted and the game is over.
  2. If the disc does not come into contact with anything along the way, you have successfully moved!
  3. You have the option of facing your figure in any direction at the conclusion of a move action, whether it was successful or unsuccessful.

  5. When you take a shooting action, position a bullet (the gray disc) to the right or left of your cowboy, depending on your preference.

Use the fact that fallen cowboys can’t be hurt again till they get back up to their feet to your advantage!

Keep an eye on where you’re shooting, Tex!

Also, if you use your tremendous flick to knock down other cowboys, just the first one you knock down counts for your score.

There is no extra reward for knocking the hat off, despite the fact that it is humorous.

If you accidentally move any barriers or structures as a result of your reckless shooting, leave them in their new locations.

This cowboy has passed away.

Any possessions a deceased cowboy may have had are placed on the Undertaker’s property.

It will still be played and flipped every round, counting as a passed turn.

If your cowboy has managed to acquire a second gun, you get two bullets to shoot for every shoot action. When you shoot with that cowboy, place a bullet on both the right and the left of the figure. You’ll get to flick both of those bullets when you shoot!

Take, Leave, or Exchange Items

Unfortunately, this mechanism will not occur in this scenario since it necessitates the presence of a cowboy within a structure, which will not be accessible for entrance. In many other instances, this is the third option available to you when you play a cowboy, and it is the most common. Place the object you desire to drop on a support platform of the building and spend an action on a cowboy within the structure in order to drop it down. The object is currently located in that building. It is possible to spend one action to remove an item from a support platform of a building in which your cowboy is currently located.

You can only have a certain number of objects in your inventory, though.

Winning this Scenario

The gunfight at Waldon Lake comes to a plain conclusion in the end. When one team loses a third cowboy, the game is over instantly and the other team is declared the winner. If this does not occur before the clock strikes midnight, the team having the most number of surviving cowboys at that moment is declared the winner. Is it true that both teams have the same amount of cowboys? In such event, the team having the most number of hit points (total, including all of their cowboys) will be victorious.

Using the Buildings

Aside from that, cowboys will be able to enter and exit buildings in other Flick ’em Up settings. Some possibilities even include some cowboys who have already entered the building. To demonstrate that a cowboy is inside a building, place him or her on one of the support platforms located at each corner of the structure. Your cowboy is protected from being shot if he is inside a structure. If you place a bullet behind the building and flick it through the door, you can fire out the other side of it with relative ease.

In this situation, unlike with other mobility impediments, it is OK to collide with the supports on either side.

Exiting buildings by flipping the mobility disc through the door works in a similar way as shooting out of structures in the game.

Finally, you are not permitted to just go inside structures that are under the control of the other team.

Resolving a Duel

In the special rules, there are some scenarios that call for duels, and you’ll find more information on how that works in the relevant scenario itself. As previously said, though, this isn’t the only occasion you’ll find yourself engaged in a good ol’ fashioned western battle in Flick ’em Up: The Game. When both teams take up residence in the same building, a duel ensues to determine which team will be allowed to remain. To set up a duel, place each cowboys at opposite ends of a large open space of the table and face off against them (outside the play area of the town).

  • The opposing cowboy will take their turn if the first cowboy misses, which is likely to happen during the first few shots of a duel.
  • When the other cowboy doesn’t respond, this player takes a shot at him.
  • This individual is victorious in the duel!
  • If this results in their death, they should be removed from the game in the manner stated in the shooting section.
  • Leave the cowboy knocked down wherever they land, and replace his hat with a different one.

As in the past, fling cowboys out of the building when they are hit, but taking out just one member of the other side will not be sufficient. In these duels, the fight will not be over until only one team has cowboys left standing in the structure.

Throwing Dynamite

Some scenarios allow you to wreak damage on the environment by hurling a stick of dynamite! Take the shot action if you want to throw dynamite that a cowboy is carrying. If you want to use the red dynamite token instead of the grey bullet disc, do so beside the cowboy. For the same reason that you would for shooting, the spacing is approximately one bullet disc away from either the left or right side of the cowboy. Flick the dynamite towards whatever it is that you wish to blow to smithereens, and then stand back and watch the fireworks!

Everything that is caught in the blast is eliminated from play.

When you toss dynamite into an occupied structure, on the other hand, it really comes into its own.

This is a quick and simple method of clearing out a structure that has been reinforced with many cowboys by an opponent!

Pretzel Games released Flick ’em Up! in 2015 as a mobile game. Gatan Beaujannot and Jean Yves Monpertuis collaborated on the design of the piece. Marie-Elaine Bérubé, Philippe Guérin, and Chris Quilliams contributed to the game’s visuals with their illustrations.

The position of a sheriff in the Wild West can be taken up by players who are more concerned with peace and the protection of citizens. It offers situations that may be played out, as well as the ability to build your own.


Selecting a playing field is the first step in getting started. Your kitchen table or even the floor will suffice as long as there is sufficient room for all the parts to be arranged. If your disc falls off the table, leaves the playing area, or comes into contact with any other item, the movement is considered lost, and the cowboy returns to where he began his journey.

If anything was displaced as a result of the botched movement, it must be restored to its previous state. To gain entry inside a building, you must direct your disc towards the building support bricks on the ground floor.


Cowboys are armed with firearms that may be shot at the cowboys of the other side in order to cause them to lose hit points. When you wish to shoot, place a bullet (a gray disc) near your cowboy and flick it in the direction of your opponent. An injured cowboy receives a blow when he is knocked to the ground. If a bullet knocks down more than one cowboy at the same time, only the first one is counted as having been hit. A hit cowboy must first be activated by another player before he may rise up.

Take / Drop off / Exchange (must be inside a building)

A cowboy has the ability to take a token and place it in his possession. If he drops it off, it will be taken away. A cowboy may have a total of two tokens in his possession at any given moment. Taking another one will require him to trade it for one of the tokens he currently holds. It will only cost him one action on his part. Game review: Flick’em Up, Red Rock Tomahawk: Don’t mess with the Native Americans

Flick’em Up is a dexterity game set in the Old West that requires quick reflexes. Players compete by flinging wooden discs at wooden figurines on the other side of the field. To win, you must take out your opponents’ objectives. Red Rock Tomahawk is an addition for the game Red Dead Redemption that includes Native Americans, arrows, and a gatling rifle. The story of Red Rock Tomahwak revolves around the heinous Cooper clan, which has invaded a number of minor communities around the region. These communities belong to a proud Native American people who are ready to fight back if they are forced to leave their homes.

Review: Flick Em Up

I’m a sucker for games that are played during parties. The fact that you can get 8 to 10 individuals to sit around a table and have a wonderful time is a great thing. In the beginning of this summer, I heard about a game calledFlick ‘Em Up, which seemed like something I had to have. With a cost of around $60, there was no way this would fit into our budget. Fortunately, Z-Man Games has created a more affordable version ofFlick ‘Em Up for those of us who are on a tighter budget. Today I’ll be evaluating the 2016 iteration of the game, which is referred to as the “wider audience edition,” which was released in August and is available for purchase on Steam.

The Wild Wild West

This game may accommodate up to ten players and is divided into two teams. One team is comprised of Outlaws, while the other is comprised of the local Sheriff and his deputies. The setup time for this game is around 15 minutes, and there are a total of ten scenarios detailed in the instruction booklet. Some of them have specific purposes, such as stealing a bank or laying explosives, while others are simply old-fashioned shoot-outs with no specific objectives. To handle Flick ‘Em Up, you’ll need a table with plenty of space.

  1. The premise of this game is fantastic, and it’ll only be a matter of time until you discover a Western-themed Pandora station on your phone to help set the tone for the experience.

All the Fun, Half the Size

The 2015 edition of the game comes in a massive wooden box with really beautiful wooden parts, and it is considered to be the luxury vehicle of this specific game. Considering that we are on a tight budget, purchasing the “wider audience edition” made more sense. We were well aware that we would have to make some concessions because the pricing was over $20 cheaper than the original retail price. The parts in this set are entirely made of plastic, and they might seem a touch flimsy in compared to other sets.

Our family appreciates that Z-Man Games has released this updated version because the prior one was just out of our price range.

In terms of quality, the 2015 edition is excellent, and the wooden parts are exquisite. If you have the money to spend, I recommend it. The gaming experience and the enjoyment, on the other hand, are all available in the less expensive edition that we purchased and played.

What Makes Flick ‘Em Up Special?
