Recommended Itinerary

You will find the following items in your Ticket to Ride box:

  • 1 Board: A map of North America with cities marked on it, as well as the railroad routes that connect them

Tickets to Victory

In order to win a game of Ticket to Ride and demonstrate that you are the most adventurous traveler at the table, you must accumulate the greatest number of points. There are a few different methods to get points:

However, you should use caution while purchasing the more difficult Destination Tickets. The high scores are enticing, but if you are caught with the route unfinished at the conclusion of the game, you will lose those points instead. Longest Trail: The player who has the longest continuous path of train routes receives an additional 10 points as well as a snazzy bonus card to wave around in front of everyone. Those points could just be the difference between a tie and a victory.

For each card you draw from the face-up cards, you must instantly replace it with the top card of the railway car deck in order to complete the turn. If you’re playing a two- or three-player game, you may disregard these duplicate paths. When claiming a route in a city that is connected by two separate route color options, you can select either one of them. Route Scoring: Every time you finish a route between two cities, you get points! Praise yourself, you super-smart railroad magnate. You’ve earned it. In order to determine how many points your route is worth, look at the reference on the game board or the summary card. Activate the arrows to move your score token along the track by that many places

Double routes should be ignored in a two- or three-player game. Select one of the route color options from the drop-down menu when claiming a route between two cities that are connected by distinct route color options. Scoring a Route: Every time you finish a route between two cities, you get points for yourself! Praise yourself, you super-smart railroad magnate. You’ve done well. To find out how many points your route is worth, look at the reference on the game board or the summary card. Move your scoring token up the track by that number of places, and then move it back down again.

End of the Line

Secrets add to the excitement of the game because you’re never entirely sure what your opponent has in his or her possession. We are now accepting new reservations. You’ll either finish a ticket or discover that you’re unable to finish a ticket because an opponent has claimed a track section that prevents you from finishing it. How to play Ticket To Ride online with Steam

Ticket to Ride is the “go-to” board game for me and my family, and it has been for years. We’ve been playing for years and enjoy it tremendously since it is simple to learn, contains a fair balance of chance and strategy, and is enjoyable for players of all ages. If you haven’t played previously, the game involves linking cities with trains and earning points for each city connected, the number of trains used, and the length of the longest route. I believe we started with my child when he was about 5 years old.

You can typically find us with our Ticket to Ride box anywhere we go, whether it’s on road vacations, camping excursions, or even visits to Vegas.

Here’s a screenshot of one of the graphs you’ll see: Our friends have all enjoyed it, and we just ran into a few of them at a social distancing safe birthday celebration (where we all sat in our vehicles and honked and shouted happy birthday as the birthday boy drove by), and discovered that we hadn’t played in a long time.

1. Install Steam desktop app

You’ll need to install the desktop application on each laptop. Go to the Steam website and click on Install Steam, then click on Install Steam again to complete the installation.

2. Create Steam account

Every player is required to have a Steam account. Create a Steam account for each player by visiting the Steam website. When the app runs for the first time, select the “Create a new Account” option from the drop-down menu. Please enter your information. They will send you an email to ask you to confirm your registration. Once you have clicked on the “Create My Account” link in the email, you should return to the Steam app and create a username and password for your new account. Then you may log in using that username and password.

3. Setup Steam profile

Despite the fact that you have created an account, you have not yet created a profile. Hover your cursor over your name in Steam and select “PROFILE.” Then select “Setup Steam Profile” from the drop-down menu. Fill out the form with your preferred profile name, actual name (if applicable), and a custom URL. Keep scrolling until you reach the bottom and click the “Save Changes” button.

4. Buy Ticket to Ride for each player

Every player must purchase a copy of the Ticket to Ride game. As previously said, you will most likely be able to compete against players on other platforms. In other words, if the other players already have Ticket to Ride, you shouldn’t have to spend any money on it through Steam. 5. Friend each other on Steam

6. Launch Ticket To Ride and create a Days of Wonder account for each player

You will need a Days of Wonder account in order to play online, as they are the game’s producers and operate on a separate account structure than Steam. Hover your cursor above LIBRARY and choose HOME in Steam. To begin playing Ticket to Ride, press the Play button. Please keep in mind that if you just see the “CONNECT” button, it implies that the game is running on a separate computer and that Steam is allowing you to stream from that computer to this one.

7. Add Days of Wonder “Buddies” for each player

Even though you are already friends with each person on Steam, you must still add them as Days of Wonder “Buddies” in order to play together. Steam buddies is used for audio discussions and gaming groups on the Steam platform. The Days of Wonder pals feature allows you to compete against other Days of Wonder players while playing the Ticket to Ride video game. To begin, press the large “Play” button. After that, select “Online.” In the upper-right corner, choose “Players.” To find something, press the “Find” button.

After that, click on the green “Add to my pals” button.

You may delete a buddy by selecting their name and clicking on the green heart that appears right next to the Players button to remove them from the game.

8. Start a Ticket to Ride game with all your players

IMPORTANT: Make sure that everyone goes to the internet home page. Instruct them to click “Play” – “Online” on the computer. It has come to my attention that if a player is not present in the lobby, they will not receive an invitation. Decide who will be in charge of hosting the game. As the host, I’ll say the following: Select “Play”-“Online”-“Create”-“Advanced” from the drop-down menu. Choose the number of players you want to play with. Create a password for the game in order to prevent random individuals from joining.

  1. Make a decision on whether you want those who leave to be replaced by bots or not.
  2. To invite a friend, first choose his or her name from the drop-down menu and then click the Invite button.
  3. Choose the amount of time that each player will be required to play for.
  4. The host is also required to press the Play button a second time.

How to resume a game or re-join a game

I was playing a game with my son the other day when he made the mistake of mistakenly pressing the escape button, which resulted in his removal from the game. We were quite disappointed when we realized that he would not be able to return to the match. After a while, I discovered the “Resume” feature. Click “Play” – “Online” – “Resume” to start the game. Click Play after finding the game you wish to re-join on the left-hand side of the screen.

How to withdraw from a game

Others won’t have to wait while your timer is counting down if you are kind and withdraw from the game.
